Payday Among Singaporeans Top 3 Simple Pleasures, Survey Found

In a survey commissioned by the Small Luxury Hotels of the World organisation and conducted by marketing research firm OnePoll in early April, Singaporeans were asked to pick multiple simple pleasures of their lives from a list of 60 items.

The survey collected responses from 1,000 Singaporeans aged 18 and above. Some of the interesting findings are as below:

  • 44 percent chose a nice dinner.
  • 40 percent enjoy listening to their favourite songs.
  • 37 percent are happy on payday.
  • More than 50% of the survey respondents felt that they do not get to enjoy these simple pleasures as much as they would like to.
  • Around 48 percent simply lack the time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
  • Around 56 percent feel guilty if they take a break from work.

Understandably, around 57 percent of Singaporeans lack the money to spend for the simple pleasures, 55 percent lack the time while 48 percent are tied down to work demands that prevent them from enjoying these pleasures.

Below are the top 10 simple pleasures chosen by Singaporeans in the survey:

  1. A nice dinner
  2. Listening to your favourite songs
  3. Payday
  4. Watching your favourite movie
  5. Dining out
