Standard Chartered's presence in Malaysia dates back to 1875, when its first branch opened for business at Beach Street, Penang.

The Bank was locally incorporated as Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad on 29 February 1984. In 2012, the Bank established Kuala Lumpur as its global hub for Islamic retail banking.

It has deepened relationships with corporates by supporting their international expansion in our footprint markets. In recent years, we have established relationships with Public Sector and Sovereign Wealth Fund clients. Our Islamic Banking subsidiary Standard Chartered Saadiq plays a key role in supporting international Islamic financing corridors.
